This Week's Dilemna

So Friday is my son's third birthday. We've kinda opted out of the party thing just cause we don't want to set a precedent .....well yet. All our families live far away so they won't be joining us. Plus we already celebrated with them while we were home.

The question is: now what? My husband is not working and we've thrown around a couple of ideas of how to spend the actual birthday day. But nothing has really struck us as the perfect thing to do.

Any ideas?

We had a few friends with kids over for birthdays the first couple of years because our families are both far away, too, and like you, we didn't want to set the bar too high, too soon! I just threw our first official birthday party in January.

Our soon-to-be 4-yr old, however, figures that since her older sister had a party, she gets one, too. I'm not sure how we'll handle it, but since her birthday's in the middle of June, I think we'll just have a barbeque and invite people she knows who have kids around our kids' ages. The kids might get party hats ~ that's what seems to make it officially a party in her mind! Oh, and a cake with a couple of candles for her to blow out!
